Jack was walking home alone through the dark woods. Suddenly he heard a strange sound behind him. His heart began to beat faster. He turned around, but saw nothing. The sound grew louder...

Paragraph 1: Jack started to run as fast as he could...

Paragraph 2: Just then, he saw a faint light in the distance...

Paragraph 1: Jack started to run as fast as he could, his feet pounding against the damp ground. The rustling sound followed him, weaving through the bushes. His breath came in short gasps, and his legs felt like lead. Suddenly he tripped over a root and fell, scraping his palms. Panic surged through him. He scrambled up and kept running, not daring to look back.
Paragraph 2: Just then, he saw a faint light in the distance, flickering like a star. A surge of hope propelled him forward. As he got closer, he realized it was a small cabin with a warm glow inside. He knocked on the door, trembling. An old man opened it and smiled kindly. “You’re safe now, boy,” he said. Jack stumbled inside, tears of relief streaming down his face. He learned that in the darkest moments, there is always a light waiting for those who keep moving forward.

Tom and Jerry were best friends, but they had a huge quarrel over a lost baseball. Jerry thought Tom had taken it, and they stopped talking to each other for a week. One day, Tom found the baseball under his own bed. He felt ashamed and wanted to make up with Jerry.

Paragraph 1: Tom took a deep breath and walked over to Jerry’s house, the baseball in his hand...

Paragraph 2: Jerry’s mother opened the door and said Jerry was in the backyard...

Paragraph 1: Tom took a deep breath and walked over to Jerry’s house, the baseball in his hand. His heart pounded with anxiety. Would Jerry forgive him? He rehearsed his apology under his breath. When he reached the door, he hesitated but finally raised his hand to knock.
Paragraph 2: Jerry’s mother opened the door and said Jerry was in the backyard. Tom walked around the house and saw Jerry sitting on a bench, looking at the sky. “Jerry,” Tom said softly. Jerry turned, surprised. Tom handed him the baseball. “I’m so sorry. It was under my bed all the time.” Jerry’s frown softened, then a smile spread across his face. “I’ve missed you, buddy.” They hugged, and that day they promised never to let a small thing ruin their friendship.

  • 大量阅读原版短故事:熟悉英语故事的叙事节奏、常用句型(如“It was not until...that...”“Little did he know...”)。
However, ...”“To his surprise, ...”“As time went by, ...” “A ray of hope lit up his eyes.”

  1. 简单题: 原文说“It was a sunny afternoon”,下列哪种续写开头直接矛盾?
    A. The sky suddenly turned dark.
    B. The birds were singing happily in the trees.
    C. He took off his jacket because it was too hot.
    D. He decided to go for a swim in the lake.
“Peter looked at the closed door of the principal’s office. His hands were sweating.”
1. A(突然变天与 sunny afternoon 矛盾,但若原文有伏笔如“but the weather forecast predicted a storm”则例外,此处无,所以 A 最矛盾)。
2. C(原文热爱探险,不应轻易害怕黑暗,除非有足够铺垫;B 中爷爷脾气暴躁变化,但如果有“内心善良”的伏笔则合理,但这里无铺垫,所以 B 和 C 相比 C 更不符合人物一致性)。
3. 示例:He took a deep breath, trying to steady his racing heart. The events of the past hour replayed in his mind. He knew he had to tell the truth, no matter the consequence. With a trembling hand, he pushed the door open.
